Dr. Yang Guanhu graduated from Zhejiang Traditional Chinese Medicine University in 1985 and immediately pursued postgraduate studies in the field of febrile diseases at Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. From 1987 to 1993, he served as a lecturer in the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Wenzhou Medical College Affiliated Second Hospital. In 1993, he was awarded the Sasakawa Medical Scholarship and was sent by the Ministry of Health to Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University in Japan to conduct research on diabetes. Two years later, he transferred to the Graduate School of Medicine at Kanazawa University, specializing in respiratory medicine, where he obtained his medical doctorate.

In 1999, he came to the United States to conduct postdoctoral research in respiratory physiology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. From 2005 to 2009, he served as the President of the Ohio State SHI Acupuncture School. Currently, he is a visiting professor at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Wenzhou Medical University, Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is also a clinical professor at the Ohio State University College of Medicine, the Director of the Sino-US Joint Acupuncture Rehabilitation Research Institute at Wenzhou Medical University, and holds positions as a supervisor in the doctoral programs of Five Branches University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in California, Huamei Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Texas, Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine in Florida, American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Minnesota, and Nanjing/Shulan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the United Kingdom. Additionally, Dr. Yang holds various positions such as President of the American Society of Acupuncture for the Treatment of Paralysis, Vice President of the American Society of Chinese Medicine, Advisor of the New York Licensed Acupuncturist Association, Executive Committee Member of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), Member of the WFCMS Diabetes Diagnosis and Treatment Standard Development Group, and Executive Council Member of the WFCMS Internal Medicine Committee. He is also the Vice President of the WFCMS Classical Prescriptions Research Association, Vice President of the WFCMS Digestive Committee, Vice President of the WFCMS Endocrinology Committee, Vice President of the WFCMS Traditional Medicine Dose-Effect Research Association, and Vice President of the WFCMS Target-Oriented Diagnosis and Treatment Special Committee. From 2016 to 2018, he served as the Vice President of the American Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Dr. Yang holds acupuncture licenses in Ohio, New York, Maryland, and Virginia in the United States. He owns two Traditional Chinese Medicine clinics and serves as a peer-review expert for several SCI journals, including Pharmacological Research. He is an editorial board member of the journal "Chinese Acupuncture," associate editor of the "International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture," and guest editor for five special issues, including "Frontiers of Neuroscience." He has been invited to speak at renowned universities and conferences, such as the Harvard Chinese Medicine Forum, and has been involved in the editing and translation of 12 books on Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern medicine. He has published over 80 SCI-focused research papers.
